Rose farms sell out and quite frankly, when the crop is done, it really is done. This is why it is equally as hard to get roses the week after Valentine’s Day as it is before Valentine’s Day.

As we close out the year we want to thank all our customers for the opportunity to share the magic of the season with our flowers conveying your good wishes. This time of the year is one of my favorites because we get to share in the gift giving of our customers. This year we had some of the most beautiful peonies imported from chili I have yet to see. They were just amazing. We also have away the evening of enchantment with our partner the Van Wezel along with an iPad2 for our FLORALAPP users.
Our design team created designs that were just amazing while our sales team insure every customer was taken care of no matter how big or small their budget was. It was our goal to insure every customer was able to send a gift with Beneva flowers and that was a goal we are proud to say we did reach.
Our 1st edition Spode Train was a huge success as our customers were able to purchase a true collectable gift in the first year of release….individually numbered as will be followed with a 2nd design next year. What fun! It was even available in select cities across the USA. But with only 2,000 created, you could consider it a rare catch to have received one!
Our drivers shared chilling experiences of joy that they claim they work all year long to see. People with tears of joy make this job worth more than any paycheck one driver shared.

Our FREE Halloween pet photo event at Beneva Flowers on Sunday was not only fun, but a huge success for all who attended!

Beneva Flowers & Gifts is hosting a live event for their 4th annual Halloween Pet Costume Photo Contest. The live event will be held Sunday, October 16th from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. at Beneva Flowers, located at 6980 Beneva Road in Sarasota. The purpose of our event is to gain exposure to local businesses and have a little fall fun.
The afternoon festivities will include pet related giveaways and goodie bags, and for area pet owners to parade their pets in their spookiest and most creative Halloween attire. Stephanie Dubsky of www.stephaniedubskyphotography.com will be on hand, taking professional photos of costumed animals. All photos will be digitally available to pet owners to submit to www.beneva.com/photocontest. Pet owners will also have the opportunity to purchase the prints taken by Stephanie after the event.
Several wonderful local businesses have teamed up with Beneva Flowers to promote healthy pets and fun prizes for our participants. Our grand prize, provided by www.beverlyhillsdog.net is a 10 day pet day care pass along with a $100 grooming certificate. 2nd place, provided by www.dogstreetphoto.com, is a pet photo package valued at $300. 3rd place, provided by www.wolfgangbakery.com, is a $100 doggie basket. On top of that, Beneva Flowers will provide five $50 gift cards for consolation prizes. Winners are determined by the number of votes that are cast online at www.beneva.com/photocontest. Participants are encouraged to promote their pet on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to gain votes for their pet in costume. Beneva’s contest is NOT just limited to images of cats and dogs; photos of any kind of animals are eligible. Beneva Flowers looks for ways to give back to our local community through special events and fundraising efforts. Years ago, Beneva began an ongoing Helping Hands Fundraiser which gives back 5% of every order when one of the non-profit organizations is mentioned online or over the phone. Celebrating 25 years in Sarasota this year is very special. What is even more special is seeing one of your original customers stop by and reminisce about just how fast the time goes by. Today was exceptionally fun as Don Guercio (host of Let’s Talk Sports in Sarasota) stopped by to place an order, and we discussed the 20 years of his talk show. Well, we tried doing a spinoff of his show at the shop today and what you will see happen is just so typical at Beneva Flowers. It was not staged however, we decided NOT to edit the segment and just go with it. Remember when you see this, it is the middle of SEPTEMBER.
What you will see is what drives and excites me in retailing today, HOWEVER, you never know what is going to happen unless you try. Take a look and I hope you can share a laugh or 2 with us!
